Course Goals
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1-Compare and contrast the major diagnostic categories including current theories related to the development of the disorders and commonly used treatment strategies.
2-Demonstrate a comprehensive overview of the field of abnormal behavior and psychopathology.
3-Weigh evidence, tolerate ambiguity, and problem-solve diagnostic dilemmas.
4-Analyze and evaluate research in the field of abnormal psychology.
5-Apply ethics and legal knowledge to clinical situations and abnormal research.
Course Policies
Material will be presented primarily in the form of lectures, reading assignments from the text and course resources, and online videos. The material in the latter part of the course will be based upon material presented in the first part of the course. The final exam is comprehensive.
Grading:
Your grade will be determined based upon the total points earned on weekly discussions, quizzes, final, and assignments.
